Whether you are charging en-route, at a destination, or on-street, here is how to get started:
Find a suitable charger: Use the Zapmap app to locate chargers near you or along your route. You can use filters to find the right connector for your car (such as CCS, CHAdeMO, or Type 2) and your preferred power rating, from Standard to Ultra-rapid.
Check live status: Before you head off, check the live status of the charger in the app. A green indicator means the charger is available, while blue means it is currently in use.
Plug in your vehicle: Once you arrive, connect your car to the charger. For Rapid and Ultra-rapid units, the cables are "tethered" to the device. For many Standard on-street or destination chargers, you’ll need to use your own charging cable.
Activate the charge: Depending on the network, you can start your session by tapping the 'Pay' button in the Zapmap app, using your Zapmap charging card, or using a contactless debit/credit card where available. The car will then "talk" to the unit to ensure a safe connection before power begins to flow.
Monitor and stop: You can track your charging progress within the app. For the best battery health, it’s often recommended to top up to 80%. When you're ready, simply end the session via the app or by tapping your card again, then unplug and you're good to go.
